Our story

Built in Kenya.
Built for Africa.

iWork was founded in Nairobi with a simple belief: talented African freelancers deserve a marketplace that doesn't take 20% of their income. So we built one.

The problem

Global platforms weren't built for us

Global platforms take up to 20% of every payment. They don't support M-Pesa. They price in USD and ignore the realities of working in Kenya, Uganda, or Nigeria.

Kenyan freelancers were using platforms that weren't built for them — losing a fifth of their income to fees and jumping through hoops with international bank transfers just to access their own money.

We decided to fix that.

No international bank account required

KES pricing — no USD conversion hassle
Full escrow on every project

Our mission

“Make African talent accessible to the world — and keep the earnings in Africa.”

We connect skilled Kenyan freelancers with businesses that need their expertise — at the fairest price, with local payments, and full transparency. No hidden fees. No foreign bank requirements. No barriers.

What we stand for

Our values

Fairness

4% commission — not 20%. Freelancers should keep what they earn. That principle is non-negotiable.

Local-first

M-Pesa payouts, KES pricing, Kenyan law. Built for how Africa actually works, not an afterthought.

Trust

Every payment is held in escrow. No one loses money on iWork — we guarantee it on both sides.

African ownership

Founded in Kenya, for African freelancers and the businesses that hire them. Not a foreign import.

Community

We are building a marketplace where both sides win — not just the platform. That shapes every decision.
